Timian samples
To demonstrate the versatility of Timian, this section simply lists a number of different reports
that were all generated by Timian.
For the time being, Timian only produces reports using XHTML 1.1 so if you were looking for
reports produced in LaTeX, PDF, Microsoft Word, or something completely different, I'll have
to disappoint you - or perhaps rather suggest you join in and work with me to
increase the Timian versatility.
Reports
The following reports are all refreshed/rebuilt regularly, provided of course that one or more of the logfiles they
report on have been updated. When you select a report from the list below, you will be taken to a directory listing. The
filenames should be relatively self-expanatory.
Style-wise I have kept the "analog HTML-2.0" look to begin with, but there is obviously plenty of opportunity to
customise, both in formatting and in content.
Browser oddities:
As I'm sure you're only too aware, not all browsers were created equal. In these samples, I've tried to avoid the worst cases of
incompatibilities, but you're bound to find some - especially if you're not using Netscape. If you
see a really bad case, please let me know. Especially if you also can help with advice on what to do about it etc.
Browser-wise, I use almost
exclusively Netscape7, and have to admit I know very little about what works and what doesn't work in other browsers.
other files
Along with the actual report, typically report.html, you will probably want to peruse other files used in
producing it: the analog configuration, the Makefile, stylesheets, report specification etc. Feel free to do so.
| Report | Last updated | Description |
| vhosts | 09-Oct-2005 10:05 |
The "vhosts" report is a very large report; it contains almost all of analogs possible reports. It covers all traffic
for all virtual hosts at jessen.ch. It uses the classical "analog" look, i.e. the HTML2.0 based look
produced by analog pre-5.90. |
| by country | 09-Oct-2005 01:26 |
A representation of which countries jessen.ch was accessed from, based on the IP-address to country-code database
kindly provided by ip-to-country.com.
I was inspired by this posting (and the discussion that followed)
on the analog-general mailing-list. |
| timian | 09-Oct-2005 10:08 |
Same specification as the "vhosts" report, but only for the Timian webserver. |
| spamassassin | 20-Mar-2004 09:50 |
This report shows the spam/nospam frequency as well as the performance (or lack thereof)
displayed by our spamassassin setup on the central mail-server. Note: this report is work in progress.
|
| timian2 | 09-Oct-2005 10:14 |
Same specification as the "timian" report, but with a navigation side-bar and using frames and SSI. |
| timian3 | 09-Oct-2005 10:25 |
Same specification as the "timian2" report, but slightly different style. (also a demo of the power of CSS). |
other samples
If you have written or are writing a new format for use with Timian, I would be delighted to publish samples here. Simply
write to me and we'll sort out the details.
